Makeaway
Why I’m Starting Makeaway
I’m starting Makeaway because I don’t want technology, work, money, and modern life to be things that only trap people. I want to figure out how to turn those same tools around and use them to build a better, freer, more fulfilling life.
The idea
A lot of modern life feels backwards. We use technology every day, but a lot of it makes us more distracted, more dependent, more isolated, and more stuck. We work to afford lives we barely have time to live. We stay connected to everything, but often feel disconnected from the things that actually matter.
Makeaway is my attempt to explore a different path.
The mission is simple: use technology, practical skills, land, money, and self-sufficiency as tools to help myself and others escape the rat race — or at least loosen its grip.
What Makeaway is about
This site is not just about one thing. It is not only about hiking, homesteading, investing, technology, or building projects. It is about the connection between all of those things.
It is about asking better questions:
- How do I build a life that feels more like mine?
- How do I use technology without being consumed by it?
- How do I become less dependent on fragile systems?
- How do I build useful skills instead of just consuming information?
- How do I use money as a tool for freedom, not just survival?
- How do I help other people do the same?
Technology should be a tool, not a cage
I work with technology, so I know how powerful it can be. But I also see the dystopian side of it: endless feeds, constant surveillance, distraction, automation that replaces human judgment, and systems that make people feel like they have less control over their own lives.
I don’t want to reject technology completely. I want to use it differently.
I want to use it to document what I learn, organize ideas, build tools, share useful research, and create a guide that can help real people make better decisions.
Land, self-sufficiency, and freedom
Part of this journey is about land and self-sufficiency. Having land is not just about owning property. It represents options. It represents space. It represents the ability to build, grow, repair, experiment, and live with a little more independence.
I’m interested in homesteading, family compounds, gardens, workshops, chickens, off-grid systems, camper life, and all the practical pieces that make a person less dependent on broken systems.
I do not have all of this figured out. That is the point. Makeaway is where I’m going to document the process honestly.
What I hope this becomes
My hope is that Makeaway becomes more than a personal blog. I want it to become a field guide — a place where people can find useful notes, research, projects, tools, and ideas for building a more intentional life.
Some of it will be practical. Some of it will be personal. Some of it will be messy while I figure things out.
I definitely dont have all the answers, but one thing is for sure, I'll make away.
